I didn't make the 53rd year Hunter/Burns Family Reunion in Thomson, Georgia (July 2026). Here's a group pic of those who were there.
I had a week earlier left the Jenkins Family Reunion that was being held in Memphis, TENN. I'm looking forward to bringing the energy from the Jenkins Reunion to the 54th Hunter/Burns Family Reunion in Mound Bayou, MISS. It will be held on June 11 &12, 2027.
It's a little earlier than usual, however, this means I have no excuse to not attend. The Mississippi Delta is familiar territory for sure.
Also on a sad note we lost a family member recent one of Aunt (our Tribal Matriarch) Lucyrene Burns Robinson's daughters Diana Michelle Robinson Walker had passed on Monday morning. Any details on any arrangements for her will be updated on The Custodian.
As it happens it was two days before the second anniversary of my mother's (our Tribal Historian) passing, which it didn't hit me until after I got the news. I wanted to do more than this update post, however, it's not ready even if I had been working on it for months.
I will reveal that it does involve health information. Our Historian had noted in her family materials that on this side of the family tree cancer had a real impact so I wanted to talk about that a bit and note the ones known to have been affected by that disease and that includes our Historian.
When some people seek out there family - whether through geneaology or DNA or whatever - I found that some do want information on health. What to expect as far as illness so this is done as something of a tribue to our Historian. Hopefully I can work on that and hopefully get it out on the day of her birth.
Meanwhile I'm still working on the family tree. And Labor Day is coming up, I hope you all have a great holiday can't believe summer is just about over.
